We Need Your Help! We’ve all had our share of struggles to deal with over the recent years. But did you know that many thousands of low-income families, seniors, children, and others continue to face the daily disaster of poverty and hunger in Central Florida? In a community as prosperous and affluent as ours, the thought of people doing without basic necessities such as food is simply unacceptable. The need is real, and the problem is one that can be solved – with your help! Together, we can help Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and The Salvation Army fill local pantry shelves and help these organizations reach as many people in need as possible.
WESH 2 and WKCF 18 for the 26th year are committing to live broadcasts for five days of Share Your Christmas on Dec.12-16. Several counties in our viewing area will be highlighted in broadcasts throughout that week. Our goal this year is to raise food, awareness, and monetary contributions to help feed more of our neighbors in need than ever before. The grand total of food collected and dollars raised through this ambitious effort will be revealed at the end of the week on WESH 2 News at 6 p.m.
Can we count on your help this year? We are hoping that you will find it in your heart to reach out to help in one of two important ways (or both!). First we will be collecting nonperishable food donations as we always have. This food is distributed through our partners Second Harvest Food Bank and The Salvation Army. All the food remains in the county of collection. In addition this year, we are also urging viewers and participants like you to consider making a financial gift. Did you know, for example, that the Second Harvest Food Bank can turn every dollar you contribute into $9.00 in food value – enough food for four meals? See below for information on the various ways you can help. If you have questions, email syc@hearst.com.
