Portraits of Hunger Showcase took place on Friday, September 30 at Enzian’s Eden Bar. Photographs chosen from Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s “Portraits of Hunger” competition were showcased and a winner was announced.
2011 Portraits of Hunger winner is Samantha Durand for her photograph titled: Fruit of Hope. Her photograph will be displayed at Enzian Theater for the month of October.
Portraits of Hunger started in 2006 as a way to engage the community in bringing visibility to the invisible problem and possible solutions of hunger. Through this event, photographers of all abilities have gone out into their community to capture images that tell the story of hunger in Central Florida.
Top 3 photos were: “Fruit of Hope” by Samantha Durand, “Hopeless” by Anesu Mucherera and “Proverbs 27:23″ by Bruce G. Larson.
Contest Judges: Josh Garrick, Fine Art and Culture Writer for a series of news and on-line venues; Rick Lang, Documentary Photographer and Photography teacher at Crealde School of Art and Dave Krepcho, President of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
